Sexy Geeky Studios

It is after Orycon our official coming out party the event that proved weather or not we could in fact make this fly.

The Sexy Geeky Studio clank sputtered and flopped very enthusiastic charged full ahead down the runway. We all were clamoring to fix and add tape and magical enchants running along side the awkward galloping endeavor doing all we could to make it succeed. As the runway ran out the clank spread its wings and leaped and all whom were witness held our breath... and wondered would it fly. It plummeted faster we though even gravity would allow and then it happened the "wurrrr" of the engines broke the silence lifted up and road the air waves just abreast of the sea wonder.

We in fact made it to the landing platform just as predicted and we will from here on be flying high bring the photo booth to many geeky events in the land.

"We did it!"

Well today is full of fun things....

First we have reconfirmed our reservation for Orycon, and Marriott on the water front, and with the crew for set up.

Tomorrows scheduled day starts with packing all clothing and items need for Orycon and followed by rounds of picking up equipment in various locations.

The first round of trips include picking up equipment and supplies then dropping them off at the hotel. Then we spend the next several hours setting up the lighting and testing the camera angel for a good shoot.

Our costuming is delayed for a bit and will have to be picked up later but its done and that is the major fun fact there.

Then we all turn into pumpkins and go home for the night and start it up the next day at 7am :)

Wow so my crew is working overtime to get all of our new equipment ready for the con and I have my website being worked right now so we look nice and snazzy. I am very excited Princess Bob is creating some wonderful new costumes with the assistance of Elder Keithulhu and a new recruit.

Speaking of new recruits well we are looking for some new blood and it looks like few someones have come aboard. We have a online editor & engineer that is currently working on a rack system for the changing room and setting up the website with the corrections we needed.

We also have a new assistant working with Princess Bob learning the ways of dressing and posing for the shot.

There is a potential new cashier in the works but he has yet to committed to stepping on board. But we shall have a great Orycon with many new photos to share with everyone soon.

Well it looks like we have been invited to take pictures at Darklady's Polyween party on Saturday Nov. 8th also we have been invited to attend a vendor fair at Clark College on the 12th & 13th.

We have a new printer another Olympus P400u so now we can get more done with quality results and we have some new options for back drops and we hope people will like it.

The problems with the lighting at kumoricon has been fixed so the photos won't be so washed out now and we are looking forward to Orycon & MEW con.  We are also working at setting up something for Norwescon but if that falls apart then we are also going to try for Sakuracon as their official photo booth just like at Kumoricon.

We are opening up an internship program with Sexy Geeky Studios to let people learn what its like to be on the road running a mobile photo booth at conventions.  If you think you might want to apply to be on board then email us and tell us why you would like to come on board.

So many things have happened in the past few months since Kumoricon we have gotten more equipped and focused on what we going to be delivering to the public.  Our team has 5 people on board for Orycon our full launch event to cover all our needs or so we hope.  In any launch it is test of our vision, dedication, planning, and stamina it is my hope that Orycon treats us well and that we when we leave for the next port of call the winds will be favorable and the seas calmer than when we arrived. 

I am going to be looking to fill my crew with a network of strong and able bodied individuals with strong minds and stronger spirit so part of the mission for Orycon will be to meet with and interview potential crew for the business. 

There will be a list up shortly of the happenings of the past few months and the plans for November.

Wow so many good photos this is taking longer than I expected it looks like I am going to be delayed on sending out DVDs and photos to people.  Wow so many!

So I checked in with my doctor today and I am still doing very well in fact he doesn't need to see me for another 6 months.  The only thing that will keep the melanoma away is to keep my stress level down.  So I guess I need to talk some Zen classes :)  Anyway I have to go.

Well getting back from a con is always a double edged sword because on one hand you are home but on the other hand you have to clean up and was out all of your costumes and equipment.  Such a long process plus we didn't clean before we left so I have to clean the house too.  Oh well it has to get done.  I am rearranging the whole house because it has been disorganized since I moved in a year ago so wish me luck with getting this all done by Sunday night.  

Take care and the website is still being worked on and my web designer is over booked once again so its slow going but please be patient.

Well kumoricon was great but as aways there were some unfortunate things that did happen.  The data base for photo shoots had to be put together at the last minute but it worked out great.  I was able to secure some new props for our cosplayers without a cosplay outfit.  It also looks like I was able to bring on some new photographers so we will be able to see how they work out. 

My dresser & poser turned out to be great at a photographer too as I was so tired by the end of the day to run the camera in the photo booth.  

My whole crew worked side by side Kumoricon staff, yojimbo and officers the merchandise booth let us set up shop with them and we helped selling t-shirts and we were also next to the charity booth so we helped with that as well.

We patrolled some hall ways and ran errands to and from ops1 & 2, con suite, and some many places in between so just like the staff and volunteers Sexy Geeky crew was dog tired to the bone come Monday night.

Like I said before we had a wonderful time and next year we will be in a full size booth and things will go even better but sadly we did have a tragic thing happen all of the money we had taken in was stolen.  It was just horrible to find out that this had happened but it did not change the fact that we had a great time.

Well to day is registration day for Kumoricon or rather set up and early pick up of badges but besides all that I am just very excited.  Kumoricon and I have a long history when Kumoricon first came to Portland I was there and that was 5 years ago.  The convention was only a year old then and it was doubled in size and experience.  I didn't have much money but I did get introduced to Pockey & Ramune that is what I lived on while I was there at the Marriott on the water front.  After meeting some friends we took over an video room and played videos that we wanted to watch and I got to crash in someones room and that really saved me.  While I was there I decided to volunteer and I enjoyed it so much that the next year I volunteered the entire con.  Then I became staff and worked as manager contacting other conventions and setting up local events to promote kumoricon and I created the idea of having a chibi version of the Kumoricon Mascot.   When I was diagnosed with cancer and then had surgery I still attended and volunteered last year.  This year ofcourse I am attending as the official photographer and that will be fun  as it will be adding to my business experience plus I can give back to Kumoricon.

So I have been working so very hard this week in prep for kumoricon and getting the website done and its almost all there.  I decided to start up a new blog site just for the studios so not to get too confused or at least to get any more confused than I already am.  Well I hope you enjoy the website as it putters along to being a real boy.
